Grace Colverd
Bio
Hello, I'm Grace. I am a current Ph.D. student at the University of Cambridge, researching the Applications of AI to Environmental Risk. I am passionate about climate change mitigation, physics, and increasing the diversity of voices within the science and technology community.
My Ph.D. thesis is audaciously titled "A machine learning approach to improving retrofit planning in the UK", and my research centres around generating remotely sensed building stock models, assessing buildings' energy performance and clustering buildings based on retrofit potential.

I have previously worked on automatic damage detection of buildings after natural disasters, wildfire prediction via deep learning, and big data analytics for financial services. You can read more about some of my projects here.

In another life I would be researching gravitational physics - the philosophy of physics being my first academic love. The immediacy of the climate crisis motivated me to pursue my current Ph.D. with the goal of supporting mitigation efforts through the deployment of thoughtful AI.

I am available to hire for all your environmental consultant/data science needs - please get in touch.
Education
Current Ph.D. Student in the Reuse Efficiency Collective within the Department of Engineering, and a member of AI4ER CDT at the University of Cambridge. MRes in Environmental Data Analysis. Previous MPhysPhil masters degree in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford.

Employment
I have worked in both boutique and big corporate consulting, as a business consultant for Applied Predictive Technologies and as an Associate Managing Consultant for Mastercard London. I also freelance as an environmental data science consultant and am currently working with Eion Carbon.
